A Minor (Am) Open Chord

00:00/00:00
๐Ÿข ๐Ÿ‡
  1. Index finger: Place it on the first fret of the B string.
  2. Middle finger: Position it on the second fret of the D string.
  3. Ring finger: Place it on the second fret of the G string.

Leave the A string open and avoid strumming the low E string.

The A minor chord consists of the following notes: root (A), flat third (C), and perfect fifth (E). We’ll discuss optimal finger positioning and strumming techniques specifically for these strings to achieve a clear and resonant sound.

Tip: If you know your E Major chord – the shape is very similar! But, we are just one string across. Here they both are so you can compare them. On the A Minor chord, we strum from the A string. On the E Major, it’s all the strings.
