Place Your Fingers:

G5 Power Chord two string voicing with the root note on the E string
Left Hand Fingering
  • Index Finger: Place it on the 3rd fret of the low E string (6th string). This is the root note, which is a G.
  • Ring Finger (or Pinky): Place it on the 5th fret of the A string (5th string). This is the perfect fifth, which is a D.

Mute the Other Strings:

  • Lightly rest your index finger across the remaining strings (D, G, B, high E) to mute them. You only want to hear the E and A strings.

Strum Only Two Strings:

  • Play both the low E string (root) and the A string (perfect fifth) together.
  • Focus on strumming only these two strings.

Quick Summary:

  • Index Finger: 3rd fret, E string (G note)
  • Ring Finger: 5th fret, A string (D note)
