The G Minor Pentatonic Scale

The Formula of the Scale

The G Minor Pentatonic scale consists of five notes: G (Root), Bb (b3), C (4th), D (5th), and F (b7). When playing this scale on the E, A, and D strings between the third and sixth frets, we use these notes in the following positions:

  • G (Root): 3rd fret on the E string
  • Bb (b3): 6th fret on the E string
  • C (4): 3rd fret on the A string
  • D (5): 5th fret on the A string
  • F (b7): 3rd fret on the D string
  • G (Root): 5th fret on the D string

By following this pattern, you can play the G Minor Pentatonic scale within the specified fret range.

To play the G Minor Pentatonic scale on the E, A, and D strings between the third and sixth frets, follow these steps:

  1. Starting on the E String:

    • Place your little finger on the 6th fret of the E string. This note is Bb (b3).
